When most people think of an Austin-Healey, what comes to mind is most likely the Austin-Healey Sprite convertible top. Manufactured at the MG sports car factory in Abingdon, England, the Austin-Healey Sprite was originally conceived as a small, affordable, two-door convertible roadster sports car.

The Mark I Austin-Healey Sprite featured large round headlights mounted on top of the hood, which gave it the nickname Frogeye convertible top in the UK, and the Bugeye convertible top in the United States. The Bugeye soft top featured several unique and ground-breaking body design features to compensate for the structural integrity lost to the soft top.

The Austin-Healey Sprite soft top was such a successful small racing car that many are still being entered in competitions today. In May 2008, the British Heritage Motor Center held a 50th anniversary party for the Austin-Healey and its cousin the Midget. The event had phenomenal attendance, attesting to the model's continued popularity.
