A division of the Chrysler corporation, the DeSoto was in production from 1928-1961. Originally competing against the likes of Studebaker in the 1930s, the replacement DeSoto soft top eventually established itself as one of the classic convertibles of the post-war era.

The DeSoto convertible top production was halted during WWII, but returned in the 1950s with a new set of styling cues called "Forward Look." With striking looks that included sky-high tail fins and triple taillights, the Desoto soft top became a record bestseller.

Alas, the economic downturn of the late 1950s made times difficult for the mid-priced DeSoto cabrio, and the DeSoto line was retired in 1961.
