This British car company traces its heritage back to a bicycle manufacturing business formed in the 19th century. Some of the earliest Sunbeam soft top models were successful racing cars which set records in the 1920s and 1930s.

The Sunbeam Alpine convertible top was a two-seater roadster developed after the company's partnership with Talbot. The Sunbeam Alpine soft top became one of the company's top sellers, a popular sports car that won the Monte Carlo Rally among others. The Alpine was later complemented by the Sunbeam Rapier convertible top, which was essentially an upgraded Hillman Minx.
